When he’s not designing from his imagination, Russell works directly from nature. After studying in the U.S.A., his classic training began abroad 25 years ago in Italy where he spent more than a year copying and selling reproductions of masterworks in order to assimilate the classic language. He later trained in figure sculpture for several years in order to better inform his teaching and painting.
